Crafting & Services

Kingsmarch is home to a number of powerful crafting methods and services. This includes the long-requested Currency Exchange – allowing players the ability to instantly and asynchronously trade stackable items with each other!

These crafting methods and services serve as powerful rewards for engaging with Kingsmarch, beyond just raw currency and items. Don’t sleep on these services, or you’ll be leaving heaps of currency and character power on the table!

This is a Pre-Launch Guide, as the Settlers of Kalguur Challenge League is not yet live. This guide is based on publicly available information about Settlers of Kalguur through reveals, teasers, Q&A, developer comments, etc, and will continue to be updated up through – and after – league launch. As such, information in this guide may be inaccurate, or simply changed by GGG prior to launch.

Runecrafting

Runecrafting Screenshot

Runecrafting is a new form of item enchantment that can be applied to weapons, in exchange for Runes.

Each crafting recipe applies an enchantment to a specific type of weapon – ie, only 1-handed axes. The effects themselves are mostly variants of modifiers that have previously only existed on Unique items – allowing you to get these effects on weapon types they previously weren’t available for.

New crafting recipes are unlocked as you upgrade the associated building.

Runes

Runecrafting costs Runes – a new type of stackable currency item acquired by Shipping to Kalguur, and as drops off Bandit bosses.

Recombination

Recombination UI

Recombination is a powerful returning form of item crafting – allowing you to combine two items.

As opposed to using a consumable currency item like in Sentinel league, you now Recombine items at a crafting bench located within Kingsmarch. Simply put two items in the bench – the resulting item will have one of the two item bases, and a combination of affixes from across the two items.

Recombination has been described as “nerfed” from its original form, but it’s currently unclear how much has been changed. The only thing we know so far is that the powerful affixes that could rarely be added to items through Recombination have been removed.

Recombination costs Gold and Thaumaturgic Dust, acquired via disenchanting items. The amount of each scales with the item levels of the combined items.

Gold Respec

Respec with Gold UI

Faustus offers the ability to respec your character’s passive skill points by spending Gold, instead of respec points. The cost to respec a skill point scales with your character level – allowing you to respec for cheap at low levels.

Black Market

Black Market UI

The Black Market allows you to purchase random equipment items of a specific item type for Gold, allowing you to convert your excess Gold into targeted rare items.

These items are better rolled than the usual rare items that drop on the ground – they use the “Increased Modifier Tier Rating” effect from Necropolis league to generate items that are much better on average than items you’d find dropping off monsters.

If you can farm enough Gold to make use of it, this can be a powerful way to acquire strong base items for further crafting or Recombination.

Currency Exchange

Currency Exchange UI

The Currency Exchange allows players to asynchronously and instantaneously buy and sell currency and stackable items with each other. No longer will you have to whisper a hundred players before someone responds, or deal with the annoyance of price fixers!

You simply select what currency you have, what you want for it, and what the ratio you’re looking for is. If it’s available at that exchange rate, you can instantly make that exchange – otherwise, you create a sell order, and have to wait for another player to exchange those items at that rate.

Once you’ve listed a sell order, the Currency Exchange will work to fill it – whether you’re there, grinding out maps, or even offline!

Each buy or sell order you place costs a small amount of Gold – this is to prevent price fixers and flippers from just sitting in their hideout, ruining the economy. You have to actually play PoE and earn Gold to use the Exchange!

The Currency Exchange encompasses far more than just currency orbs. Every stackable item in the game is available for exchange: scarabs, map fragments, oils, and so, so much more.

Items can be listed directly from your stash – no need to move them to your inventory first. Items you buy, however, need to be moved to your inventory, and then deposited into your stash afterwards.
