Ascendancy (Shadow – Saboteur)

Born in the Shadows

I’m always incredibly torn between grabbing Pyromaniac or Born in the Shadows first. I do think that effectively Born in the Shadows performs a bit better early, as life Flasks can carry your regen pretty hard anyway. Anyways, this ascendancy basically blinds everything around you, making it very unlikely for you to get hit (especially while leveling). Blind is a really strong defensive layer and since this ascendancy point builds on that, by making you take 10% reduced damage and as Pyromaniac no longer reduces your Mines’ cost I think Born in Shadows is a really solid opener to an overall well-rounded, versatile and strong Ascendancy.

Pyromaniac

Well if you don’t take it first, you take it second, right? That’s not as obvious as it seems. Once you delay it once, I almost want to delay it twice. At this point, Bomb Specialist is really nice to have, but yeah, Pyromaniac is incredibly overpowered once you start mapping. Since this build has such a high maximum Life potential and a lot Dodge layered on top of that it’ll almost never get outright one shot. This makes 10% Life Regeneration bonkers to be honest. Additionally, this avoids the nasty damage amplification that is being Shocked, which is very nice. Lastly, being immune to Ignite is also a lot more useful than most people would think! Do note that if you’re going this route second, you probably wont be doing obscene amounts of damage as you’re delaying your damage-ascendancies till the 3rd and 4th labs.

Bomb Specialist

Since your last node requires some gearing to activate, Bomb Specialist is what comes third. With some extra damage, area of effect and a lot of mine throwing speed, this node is a pretty big damage multiplier while getting you a lot of quality of life too. Very nice pickup from your 3rd labyrinth.

Explosive Expert

Definitely the strongest node damage-wise once you can get everything it offers you. As explained previously, this requires you to grab some source of Ignite to add the Ignite benefactors. The Shock & Chill effects always apply as soon as you run Summon Skitterbots Summon Skitterbots. As long as you have a source of Fire Damage this Ascendancy point is going to give you 40% Crit Multi, 80% Critical Strike Chance and 10% Elemental Damage Penetration which is pretty strong for a single point!

Bandits

There really only is one option here. You want to help Alira for the Critical Strike Multiplier, Mana Regeneration and the Resistances. Capping Resistances without her is too hard and we’re pretty happily accepting some Crit Multiplier and much needed Mana Regeneration too!

Pantheons

Major Gods

Soul of Lunaris is probably your best pick. No one has ever said no to some extra Physical Damage Reduction!

Minor Gods

I would recommend Soul of Shakari here as Chaos damage over time can be fairly lethal. If you want to cap out curse immunity, feel free to grab a Flask Suffix & grab Yugul to cap your curse reduction effect.

Upgrading your Pantheons

Whilst upgrading your Pantheons never hurts you, it’s not that important for this character. If you have nothing else to do at some point, sure, why not, but it shouldn’t be something you focus on or spend a lot of time on.

Pantheon powers can be upgraded by using Divine Vessel Divine Vessel in the Map Device while you are activating the particular Map that contains the boss you need. Once you’ve killed the boss and captured his soul, you need to deliver the Divine Vessel Divine Vessel, which’ll be filled up in the map device, to Sin in Oriath.
